Homeschool Reading List From Amazon

One of the hardest parts about homeschooling is picking books that are educational and that your kids will love. But the right books can fill your child’s mind with whimsical imagination and a love of reading — so it’s important to find good ones. That’s why I’ve put together this list of my favorite homeschool books from Amazon.

Who knew 2020 would be a year of masks, quarantine, social distancing, and … oh yeah … homeschooling? There’s a handful of parents out there who could homeschool in their sleep, but for some of us — it’s a learning curve.

The good news is that homeschooling has tons of incredible benefits like one-on-one learning and hands-on support. And a good reading list can add tremendous peace and endless learning opportunities to your days.

Whether you’re a homeschooling pro or feel like a fish out of water (I have those days!) this list will give you the books you need to help your kiddos fall in love with reading one book at a time!

How to pick the best homeschool reading books

Picking the right books for your kids can make or break storytime. Here are three questions to ask yourself when you’re picking books for your kid.

  1. What’s their reading level? One of the most frustrating things for young readers is when a book is either too hard or too easy. Make sure the books you pick are hard enough to keep your kids interested but easy enough to keep them going. The ones I have included are easily adaptable to go in depth with older kids or stay simple with younger ones.
  2. What sort of stories do they like? Some children like whimsical stories while others want action and racecars. When you’re picking books for your kids, choose stories they’ll connect with every step of the way. We like to have a healthy balance between text-based books, like The Random House Book of Poetry , and more visual learning books like The Street Beneath My Feet.

  3. How much time do you have? Some weeks our days are jam packed with activities and outings and other weeks are slow and have lots of breathing room. I like to set a designated story time as a part of our homeschooling schedule. Whether you have 15 minutes or 2 hours to devote to reading that day, consistency wins when you’re reading with your kiddos. Do the best you can and give yourself loads of grace.

Whether you’re brand new to homeschooling or an old pro, it can be hard to find books your kids connect with and love. When you use this list, you’ll be sure to pick out books with endless learning opportunities and ones your children can’t get enough of.
