A Relaxed Park Session with a Family Photographer in Nashville, TN

As a Family Photographer in Nashville TN, one of my favorite parts of this work is getting to see the same families year after year. I’ve photographed their family for the last three years, and every session feels a little like catching up with old friends.

Mallory and I first connected through a film mentorship that I taught. She’s also a photographer at Mallory Bell Photography, which makes our connection even more special. Photographing another photographer’s family is always meaningful because they understand the little moments that make a session real.

This year’s session took place at a park here in Nashville, and it was full of everything that makes my job so fun.

Behind the Scenes of a Family Session

Mallory and her husband are raising three busy boys, and as a mom of five myself, I always feel right at home with the energy that comes with that.

At one point during the session, their toddler made it very clear he wanted his box of Cheerios. Behind the scenes of almost every family session are snacks, and this was no exception. The Cheerios made their appearance, everyone had a quick moment to reset, and then the boys were right back to exploring.

Sessions with kids don’t need to be perfectly polished to be beautiful. Some of the most genuine moments happen when children are simply being themselves.

Sweet Moments During a Nashville TN Family Session

One of my favorite moments during this session was watching the boys pick flowers for Mallory.

This has become a tradition during our sessions together. For the last three years, the boys have gathered flowers and proudly handed them to their mom.

It’s such a simple moment, but it says so much about their family. These boys love their mama.

They also love exploring. The park was full of little discoveries. Rocks to pick up, flowers to gather, and space to run around while we photographed their family together.

There were shoulder rides with Dad, laughter between brothers, and those quiet little moments that often become the photos families treasure most.

Family Photos Can Be Relaxed and Beautiful

Sessions like this are a reminder that family photos do not have to feel stressful.

Kids don’t need to sit perfectly still. They don’t need to behave flawlessly. The best photos often come from real moments: a toddler holding a snack, brothers exploring together, or kids proudly bringing flowers to their mom.

These moments create photographs that feel natural, joyful, and deeply personal.
