There’s something special about watching families grow up right in front of my lens. As a Brentwood family photographer, one of my favorite parts of this work is seeing how siblings begin to bond and how those relationships deepen as the years pass. This session with the Houk family just outside Franklin, TN was full of those tender in-between moments. Brothers giggling together, a baby girl watching her big brothers and eager to jump right in, and their parents soaking it all in.

The Houks showed up dressed in soft creamy neutrals that photographed beautifully against the first hints of Tennessee’s fall foliage. Even though fall is often thought of in rich colors, neutrals are timeless and create a gentle, cohesive look that never distracts from the people in the photos.

As the session wrapped up, I couldn’t help but think how fast these years go by. The toddler hand holding, the baby’s laugh, the look a mom gives her children, it all shifts so quickly. That’s why photographs are more than pictures, they’re little anchors to remind us what mattered most in each season.

The Houks will look back and see not just what their children looked like in fall of this year, but how they loved each other. How their little boys were becoming best friends. How their daughter’s very presence completed the family in a new way.
