Light + Airy Baby Girl Nursery in Murfreesboro, TN

I am over the moon to be sharing my new monthly nursery spotlight!  I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a monthly spotlight for a while now and today I’m finally going to launch it and share it with all of you!  As a Tennessee Maternity, Newborn, & Family photographer, I meet wonderful families all the time!

Families often opt for in-home lifestyle sessions, especially while they prepare to bring home a new little bundle of joy; or after their tiny miracle has already entered the world. During my many sessions in the lovely homes of my clients, I have captured the beauty and wonder of growing families around Tennessee.

I’ve also documented several gorgeous, absolutely stunning nurseries.  These mamas (and dads) pour their hearts out into each perfectly placed detail. These rooms are decorated and designed with that family’s sweet baby in mind. I love viewing the small details that fill the room, seeing the creativity, feeling the love, and hearing the story behind certain items.

Monthly Nursery Spotlight: Light + Airy Baby Girl Nursery

Today on my first Monthly Nursery Spotlight, I am featuring a Light + Airy Baby Girl Nursery in Murfreesboro, TN.  Mama was kind enough to answer a few questions about her baby girl’s dreamy nursery:

Did your nursery have a theme?

We wanted the nursery to feel light and airy, calming and natural.

What was your main source of inspiration?

So much Pinterest searching and following wonderful mamas on instagram.

How long did it take you to complete?

It took us about 3 months to complete. We moved across the country when I was 28 weeks pregnant and bought our home sight-on-scene., and then we had the whole house to fill from scratch but the nursery was my number one priority. We are incredibly blessed to have a supportive family. My father in law was wonderful and rebuilt the closet, put in recessed lighting, a new fan, built all the furniture and more! So thankful because I was exhausted by that time.

Did you have a set budget?

We didn’t have a set budget. I had a list of all the items we would need and decided from there which items were worth a splurge.

What tips would you share with new moms looking to design their nursery?

Do it in smaller chunks. Don’t try to buy everything at once, put in the larger items first and sit with the room. it helps you decide what you actually need and not over decorate. Everything was purchased primarily from Amazon, WayFair and Etsy.

Did you run into any obstacles during the process?

Yes! I had my heart set on our crib with a matching dresser/changing table. I bought the crib first and then found the dresser was backordered everywhere because of COVID and shipping times were long. We ended up buying and returning 2 other dressers, it was a mess! But, we did end up with the matching set and it was completely worth it.

Anything else you would like to share about your nursery?

My favorite part of our nursery is the drawing of my father with Jesus, my husband and our baby is my favorite item in our nursery. My dad passed away suddenly from COVID when I was 33 weeks pregnant and it continues to be extremely difficult that my dad never got to meet and love on my little girl. I love having him watching over her in the nursery and to look at the drawing and talk to him while rocking her to sleep.

Enjoy this amazing light and airy nursery!  You can also check out more photos from our in-home Lifestyle Maternity session, before the sweet baby girl arrived.
