Secretariat, Hidden Figures and The Help.
What do these three have in common? They are all movies we watched in the hospital after Carson was born. Pretty impressive seeing as how we were only there for 24 hours. Not being able to leave gave us the perfect excuse to get our moneys worth out of our Disney+ subscription.
Our time was, I’m sure, pretty similar to most peoples experience (other than covid restrictions). I nursed a baby every couple hours, Tyler changed some diapers, and we had a lot of swaddled baby burrito snuggles. Starbucks was closed across the country, but guess what? There was a coffee cart open downstairs and we made as good of use out of that as we did Disney+.
For the first time in 4 pregnancies we decided to hire a Fresh 48 photographer. Lindsay Reed (who also took our newborn family photos) couldn’t be there due to Covid. That was the hardest part of giving birth during a pandemic to me. But between movies and sipping Americanos we decided to make the best of it and snap a few pictures of our own to remember this time by.
And notice how it just says “Paul” under babies name? That’s because it took us almost a week to pick one out!
Let me introduce you to John Carson.
John, meaning the grace of God.
And Carson, meaning the son of a marsh dweller. Which actually means nothing significant, seeing as we don’t dwell in marshes. But a name we felt like the Lord brought us nonetheless.
